Health Internet - of - Things

My research interests are in the areas of wireless networking and sensing systems. Today, wireless networks use radio frequency (RF) signals to communicate. My research demonstrates that we can also use these signals as sensing tools that enable us to learn about our environment without physically reaching out to the various objects in it. Specifically, as these signals travel in the wireless medium, they bounce off different objects before arriving at a receiver; hence, they carry information about the environment. My research shows how we can extract this information to expand the role of wireless networks and enable them to deliver new services ranging from seeing through walls with WiFi to non-contact sensing of heartbeats.
